Sebastiaan Foppen - Translation, Proofreading, Copywriting, Editing
We all make mistakes sometimes. I'm here to help you fix them.

No fluff, no frills, no nonsense.

Unless you're into fluff and frills, in which case I'd also happily write that kind of content for you.

What I do:

I'm a translator (Dutch-English/English-Dutch), copywriter, proofreader, and editor. I enjoy doing research and getting to know my clients: if you're looking for someone to edit your manuscript, translate technical documents, or write kickass copy, you're at the right place. Because I believe it's important to keep learning, I take on clients from all walks of life and have worked with visual artists, budding authors, traffic agencies, and business owners.

My services page has additional information (as well as an anecdote about a reverend who accidentally used the word "peeface" in his book).

A brief history

While I could try to woo you with eloquent effusions, trite marketing jargon, or a listicle featuring the myriad reasons you should hire me, I'd rather just get straight to the point. Simply put, I'm a language geek, literature aficionado, night owl, proud cat dad, caffeine fiend, and avid writer. After pursuing my bachelor's degree at Leiden University and my master's degree at Newcastle University, I held a variety of odd jobs ranging from nappy and feminine hygiene customer service agent (which was decidedly not my calling) to marketing assistant, English language teacher, and academic writing tutor.

In 2017, I decided to give freelancing a whirl - after all, there is something to be said for working from home - and have been happily typing away on my keyboard ever since. Find out more about who I am, what I do, and what I stand for on this page.

My philosophy:

Take no shit but do no harm is a phrase I live by. I think being kind is a radical act, especially in a world that doesn't nearly value kindness enough.

I also strongly believe in honesty (it'd be hard to run a business built on what's essentially correcting other people's work otherwise). Should you decide to work with me, and I truly hope you do, you can always count on my integrity, as my other clients will attest to. I'm not afraid to tell you what I love about your work, but won't shy away from constructive criticism.
